Work will be starting shortly to install a raised level crossing on Coniston Road, Patchway. The crossing will enable cyclists and pedestrians with mobility issues or pushchairs to cross the road more easily.
In order to carry out this work a temporary road closure will be in force on Coniston Road, Patchway from its junction with Waterside Drive to its junction with Bradley Road.
The work will start on Monday 6th September and will last for around two weeks.
Signs will be put up in affected areas to provide advance warning before work starts. There will be signing of diversion routes put in place.
During the work on Coniston Road, bus stops will remain in the same locations but there will be slight bus route diversions. Information on these changes will be displayed at bus stops.
The work is being carried out as part of the Cycle City scheme to improve cycling links in Patchway.
Councillor Brian Allinson, executive member for planning, transportation and strategic environment, said: “As part of Cycling City, we are implementing improvements, such as this crossing, which will help local residents to cycle more easily, as well as having wider benefits for residents, particularly those with mobility issues. The council is working hard to minimise disruption to local residents during the installation of this crossing, and we thank them for their patience during this time.”
