A4174: Plans for three more ‘throughabouts’ paused

Plans to spend £30 million on converting three more roundabouts on the A4174 Ring Road into ‘throughabouts’ have been put on hold for at least 12 months after a public consultation showed a clear majority of respondents were opposed to the scheme.

£30m A4174 improvements scheme unveiled

Commuters using the A4174 Ring Road around north-east Bristol could face three years of traffic misery after proposals for a £30m scheme of road-widening and ‘throughabouts’ were unveiled. The plans aim to tackle congestion and deter motorists from using roads through adjoining residential areas as ‘rat runs’.

Winners of the two regional elections held on 6th May 2021 have started work in their new roles. Dan Norris (Labour) is the new ‘metro mayor’ for the West of England, while Mark Shelford (Conservative) is the new Police and Crime Commissioner for Avon and Somerset.

Covid-19 rapid testing kits now available to collect across South Gloucestershire

Covid-19 rapid testing kits for use at home are now available to be collected from six sites in South Gloucestershire. This is in addition to parents of young people attending nurseries, schools and colleges being able to order test kits to be delivered to their home and being able to take a test at one of three rapid testing sites in the district.

Dog returned to owner following theft report

A dog reported stolen in January has been returned to its thankful owner by police after being missing for nearly four weeks. Thieves broke down a large fence to take two male Shetland sheepdogs from a property in the Almondsbury area on Sunday 31st January 2021.
