Jack Lopresti, MP for Filton & Bradley Stoke, has met with John Penrose MP, the Minister for Tourism, to discuss the future of Concorde Alpha Foxtrot, currently sited at Filton, Bristol.
The meeting came in the wake of the announcement by Airbus stating that their focus has shifted towards finding the Concorde a permanent home.
Mr Lopresti and the Minister are said to have discussed possible avenues to securing the planned Aviation Heritage Museum which would house the iconic aircraft.
The MP said:
“I was very grateful to meet with the Minister, we discussed possible funding avenues such as the Lottery Heritage Fund and the recent plans announced last week by the Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt to help boost private funding for important pieces of local culture.”
Mr Hunt last week announced a ten-point plan which includes an £80 million match-funding scheme to be set up to boost private giving to arts organisations and create a new generation of philanthropists.
The scheme will be funded by £30m from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport over the next four years and up to £50m of lottery funding.
Mr Lopresti has also met with the Concorde Trust to discuss the recent developments and see how best they can push the campaign forward.
