Residents of South Gloucestershire will benefit from a new NHS dental practice when Phoenix Dental opens a new surgery in Staple Hill on Monday 22nd November, 2010.
The Phoenix Dental Practice on Victoria Street, just off the High Street, is fitted with the latest technology and has three surgeries. Situated in a Victorian house, it has been modernized to the highest standards and caters for all patients including those with a disability, families with children and the elderly. The practice will be open from 9am – 5pm on weekdays as well as some evenings and Saturdays.
“We have five other family NHS practices in the South Gloucestershire area all of which are well established and popular services in their communities. We believe that NHS dentistry should be available to everyone and we are very lucky in South Gloucestershire that the NHS is able to provide this for a large part of the local population,” said dentist and practice owner Paul Drugan.
NHS South Gloucestershire has invested £500,000 this year to increase dental access in the area of Staple Hill and also invested an extra £900,000 in increasing access to dentistry in 2009. In this same year it helped establish the first NHS dental practice in Bradley Stoke, in the Willow Brook Centre.
“We want to ensure that as many people as possible in South Gloucestershire have access to an NHS dentist and we hope that this dental practice will prove as popular as the new Bradley Stoke practice,” said Penny Harris, Chief Executive of NHS South Gloucestershire.
